What is…?

April 24, 2010

Just watched an extremely lame performance on Jeopardy. The category was The Mediterranean, the way it worked was this: Alex Trebek would offer a clue and then an unmarked map of part of the region would be shown, with the borders of the answer county highlighted. The contestants got answer after answer wrong. Here is a partial list of the countries they were unable to identify after seeing a map and hearing a clue: Lebanon, Sardinia, Gaza Strip and Malta.

Unbelievable. Excepting maybe Malta, this was grade school geography.

Where have you gone, Ken Jennings? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

I assume you meant “country”? Because naming the counties of the Mediterranean countries would be pretty challenging.

Don’t be a wisenheimer, it’s unbecoming of you.

Slightly off the subject maybe, but a request for you to think about the ethics of buying cheap trampolines. Please try and think about, for example, the things the item is manufactured from, the human rights of the factories where they’re manufactured and the green credentials of the retailer. Oh, and try to recycle your trampoline rather than throwing away. Thanks!!!!
