I’m not sure how I feel about jugglers. I find juggling entertaining, and am quite impressed by the skill and coordination involved, especially when they start getting up to 5 balls, blades, flaming torches, what have you. But there are a couple of things that ruin it, first: it is unbelievably geeky, it just is, there is no way around it, it’s nerd entertainment, second: a good 90% of jugglers, and all street jugglers, use the most horrific sort of cornball “humor” in their performances.

So, too sum up: I can be quite entertained by prodigious feats of juggling and wish I, myself, could juggle more props, as the objects du juggle are called, but I wish most of them would shut up. Perhaps it comes down to liking juggling but not liking jugglers.

Some interesting juggling facts:

W.C. Fields was considered one of the finest jugglers of his day, perhaps all time(20th century and on).
There are representations of jugglers dating to ancient times.
There are controversies over how you figure world records.
Juggling is now being promoted as a competitive sport.
I can juggle, but only 3 balls.
The juggling glossary I stumbled upon online is much longer than I would have expected.
Joe Girardi sucks.
Once accepted, following the decline of Rome juggling in Europe was considered base, performed only be immoral drifter types.
Juggling is understood to fall into several different categories.
