As I may have mentioned previously, I need a haircut.
Well, I still need a haircut (and it’s getting kind of embarrassing). But this brings to mind something that combines one of my favorite things — horse racing — and what by all evidence is apparently one of my least favorite things — haircuts.
Now I have never actually gotten a haircut at the track. I’ve thought about it many times, but, as I’ve mentioned, I’m not so good about actually getting haircuts. Other excuses have been that there is a wait (and I hate waiting for haircuts), that I’m suspicious of the quality of the barbering (though I have very low standards on that score), and, most importantly, that there are only 20 minutes between races.
Anyhow, some guy in the Times named Peter Blair wrote an article the other day where he talks about getting a trim at the track. He talks about the barber, who’s been doing it for a long time, and cuts hair quickly, but not that well. Frankly, it’s not that interesting an article, and I’m sure this isn’t that interesting a post.
What was I saying? Haircuts. Race track. An annoying thing and a great thing that go together. One of these days I’m going to get a haircut at the track. I swear I am.
You know who’s not going to get a haircut at the track?
Jon Bon Jovi.
