Feeling The Glow Yet?

August 17, 2010

A loyal reader has pointed out the following (we got the picture she took through other sources, so I hope we’re not getting anyone — not least ourselves — in trouble here):

This is a real life picture of a real life product that is for sale in the supermarkets of our great land.

You take a sausage, you wrap it in pancake batter, presumably you microwave it, and, voila, a delicious and nutritious Jimmy Dean snack.

And a mere 20% of your daily fat intake in each.

But wait, it gets better.  If you think pancake-wrapped sausages couldn’t get more, um, well, more, they offer to wrap the sausage in chocolate chip pancakes or blueberry pancakes for you.

Oh, and since no post would be complete without a dead guy reference:  Jimmy Dean just died in June.

Now you’re ripping off the Daily Show? This is an old routine of theirs, though they mentioned nothing about Jimmy Dean.

What routine? Pointing out nasty food people spot in the freezer case of Vermont supermarkets?

I wonder if his death was caused by the ingestion of one of those things.

I wasn’t aware this was a routine on the Jon Stewart show. I don’t even have cable TV. I just saw the box in a freezer in Shaw’s, took a photo of it and sent it to JCo with the question, “What the fuck?”

Given the easy availability of these things it’s a wonder that Vermont manages to keep its status as healthiest state. Maybe it’s an attempt at sabotage.

I LOVE Jimmy Dean pancakes and sausage on a stick!!!! Have you ever tried one? They are remarkably good, being that they are microwavable. There’s even a maple flavoring in the sausage, which complements the pancake nicely. I’m serious. When you want pancakes and sausage, you either have to go to Denny’s or stand over a skillet and grease-up the kitchen. Until this. If you are going to eat heavy breakfast food anyway, at least this is less clean up and portion controlled.
