A Perfect Storm

September 14, 2010

That’s what I saw when I went to vote this morning. A perfect storm of cognitive impairment, corruption and moral turpitude (maybe it was a harmonic convergence, I’m not sure). Walking into the converted gym of the local elementary school I found the room essentially deserted except for two enormous and unmoving lines of people waiting to scan, or whatever the fuck it is we’re supposed to do with the new voting machines, their ballots. It seems that the machines were a) not working, b)the staff did not know how to fix or operate them or, c) the voters didn’t understand what to do. C is certainly a possibility, but I’m going to go with A & B.

I decided not to wait, and may not go back.

What a preposterous state we live in. Corrupt through and through. How difficult can it be to construct an efficient voting system? we’ve been at it for going on 250 years.

There was nothing wrong with those old machines with the big red lever, and everyone knew how to use them. This marking/scanning nonsense is ridiculous bullshit. Fortunately, there are no decent candidates to vote for and precious few races that aren’t a foregone conclusion. Even more fortunately, it doesn’t matter a whit who the voters send to Albany, given that they are incapable of accomplishing a single thing.

I agree with jco, bring back the old easy voting machines. Politics suck.

Yeah, what they said. I hate those fucking fucks.

A related item to ponder: Sheldon Silver = Lucifer?

I yield to no man in my contempt for that crook, but I’m going to have to push back on him being the actual Devil. He’s a corrupt, venal fuck, but I’m not sure Sheldon Silver rises to the level of supernatural evil.

        His hair is somewhat supernatural.
