I took a trip down the New Jersey turnpike on Friday. Heading back to the car after a little pit stop I was walking behind a group of motorcyclists returning to their hogs. One was wearing a Harley Davidson Gettysburg, PA. t-shirt with quite an impressive picture on the back. There were a bunch of flags, Union and Confederate, cannons, and rifles, etc.; and flanking all this were images of Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee, each in vividly colored uniforms, blue for Grant and gray, obviously, for Lee, and each astride his own Harley.
It made laugh, in a superior condescending sort of way. But at the end of the day, it made me, as most things do, kind of depressed.
