Apparently Sting’s 60th birthday is upcoming. Who cares? Not me.

But I got this really odd e-mail for an event that City Winery is holding:

Sting’s 60th Birthday Wine Pairing 10/4

General Admission $25.00

Join us to celebrate the 60th Birthday as well as the 25th Anniversary of the solo career of the inconic [SIC] Sting. The lead singer and bassist of the Police has received sixteen Grammy Awards for his work, making him one of the most successful artists of all time. We’re offering a great listening session by pairing 21 classic Sting tunes with 7 different wines. Tasting notes placed at your table will reveal why we think each wine flight goes with the particular songs it’s paired with.

5:30 Seating

7:30 Let the music begin!

All for only 25 dollars, an amazing value!

Buy your seating now…

Please note that this is not a live performance. Music will be played on our state-of-the-art sound system, as the wines are served simultaneously.

So sit around with a bunch of other weirdos listening to a Sting mixtape and drinking unknown sips of wine? People are really strange.

I received the same email and thought the same thing. However I am now thinking if they’d had the forethought (so to speak) to title their ticket blast “Tantric” they may have gotten more play.

Rob Schneider just popped into my head. I hate it when that happens!
