King of the Jews

February 8, 2012

This sentence from Nick Tosches’ King of the Jews, which I am currently reading, just makes me happy. The book itself, I’m no sure about.

Most curious were the skeletal remains of a monkey that may have been cast to the privy by an intemperate Italian organ-grinder who lived at 14 Baxter Street.

It makes you happy? What about the poor monkey?

I am troubled by the monkey’s fate, perhaps it would have been better to say that I found the construction of the sentence amusing.

Nick Tosches rules! I will definitely check this book out, thanks for the heads up.
