Allow me to rant for a moment.  Actually, I don’t need to rant.  I will give you a couple of quotes from friends of the blog.

On Friday I got this e-mail from someone who I hope doesn’t mind me putting it out there, but it’s all too right-on to keep to myself:

Are you as pissed off about this as I am? NYC has become a city for pussies.

This was when the fucking Mayor decided that he was going to close the subways at noon yesterday even though nothing was even forecast for that time.

Later in our rant-off our friend commented:

I’m moving to Charlotte. If I can’t roll out of bed and get a 40 at the corner bodega at any time, under any circumstances, what really is the point of living here. Fuck Bloomberg. Fuck Cuomo. Fuck Christie.

Exactly. And you want an example of this idiocy in action? Marty Wombacher went out yesterday to try and get a cheeseburger. His whole account (which I heartily commend to you) is here. To summarize, he couldn’t find a fucking place to find a cheeseburger in fucking Union Square. Chat ‘n’ Chew — closed. Steak Frites — closed. Union Square Cafe — closed. McDonald’s — CLOSED!!!

As Marty aptly summed it up: “Shit, they’re closed too. Pussies!”

This is absolutely stupidly insane. All those places had to close because the weak-ass mayor wouldn’t let any of their employees get to or from work. It’s a joke. He’s turned “the city that never sleeps” into “the city that’s scared of its own shadow and has to hide under the fucking bed because Al Roker says it’s going to rain.”

So what did Marty do? He found his way to the Old Town Bar, which was not only open, but packed. People were doing what real New Yorkers do when the going gets tough. They were getting loaded.
